Field‐Scale Subsurface Flow Processes Inferred From Continuous Gravity Monitoring During a Sprinkling Experiment

چکیده

Field-scale subsurface flow processes are difficult to observe and monitor. We investigated the value of gravity time series identify by carrying out a sprinkling experiment in direct vicinity superconducting gravimeter. demonstrate how different water mass distributions subsoil affect signal show benefit using shape response curve processes. For this purpose, simple hydro-gravimetric model was set up test scenarios an optimization approach, including macropore flow, preferential wetting front advancement (WFA), bypass perched table rise. Besides observations, electrical resistivity soil moisture data were used for evaluation. study site, process combination WFA led best correspondence observations multi-criteria assessment. argue that approach combining field-scale experiments with monitoring can be transferred other sites identification, discuss related uncertainties limitations here. The stresses advancing terrestrial gravimetry as integrative non-invasive technique assessing hydrological states dynamics.

Martian Subsurface Properties and Crater Formation Processes Inferred

Introduction: The geometries of simple impact craters reflect the properties of the target materials, and the diverse range of fluidized morphologies observed in Martian ejecta blankets are controlled by the near surface composition and the climate at the time of impact. Using the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter data set, quantitative information about the strength of the upper crust and the dynam...

Estimated accuracies of regional water storage variations inferred from the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE)

[1] The satellite Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) provides data describing monthly changes in the geoid, which are closely related to changes in vertically integrated terrestrial water storage. Unlike conventional point or gridded hydrologic measurements, such as those from rain gauges, stream gauges, rain radars, and radiometric satellite images, GRACE data are sets of Stokes c...

Continuous Gravity Measurements for Reservoir Monitoring

In order to improve the accuracy of repeat gravity surveys for reservoir monitoring, it is desirable to perform continuous gravity measurements in addition to the ordinary survey program. We can apply time series analysis to the continuous recording to evaluate the causes of various gravity variations. We have made continuous gravity measurements using a Scintrex CG-3M gravimeter at several geo...

Gravity flow system for continuous culture feed.

There are innumerable varieties of devices available for the supply of fluid media to continuous culture systems. The unit presented here offers the advantage of being an inexpensive system with a high degree of reliability. No moving parts or pumps are required, and functional models can be constructed from routine laboratory ware. The primary problem with gravity flow or "drip" systems has be...
